Three beautiful walking days, ocean views, Portuguese flavours and long conversations with our worldwide Senate family.
We'll begin with a Welcome Dinner in Porto and finish our walking adventure in Viana do Castelo. An international community, together in Portugal: JCI Senators, partners, families and friends share the journey through Atlantic boardwalks, fishing communities, river crossings and regional hospitality – and reconnect every evening. Bring your partner, invite a friend and choose the pace that suits you.
Walking side by side opens conversations that a conference never does. Days of gentle effort, evenings of shared tables – and friendships across our Senate family that last long after May.
One of Europe's most beautiful coastlines, a mild spring climate, world-class cuisine and wine, warm hospitality – and great value for money. Comfortable, varied and easy to reach.
The Camino de Santiago is a network of historic pilgrim routes that has connected Europe for over a thousand years, all leading to Santiago de Compostela. The Portuguese Coastal Way follows the Atlantic north from Porto – recognisable by its yellow arrows and scallop shells.
The experience will include coastal scenery, unhurried conversations, Portuguese food and wine – and most important, shared evenings and memories!

Participation modes and support points ensure everyone enjoys every moment. You can tell us your preferred pace when you register.
Walk the whole stage dynamically and take an active approach to everything – feel free to explore detours along the way.
Walk the whole stage at a comfortable, steady walking pace.
Walk the whole stage at a very relaxed pace, with plenty of time for breaks and views.
Enjoy the highlights of each day and group hospitality with as little walking as you like.
Three stages along the Atlantic, four nights in four hotels. Your luggage travels with the bus – you only carry a daypack.

Our base for the festive welcome night – a comfortable city hotel in Porto, close to the river and the start of the coastal route.

Set above the Ave river in Azurara, facing historic Vila do Conde – a spa to recover after the first stage.

A relaxed hotel by the beach in Apúlia, a traditional seaweed-gatherers' village with windmills on the dunes.

Modern hotel with spa in Viana do Castelo, where we celebrate the end of our walk together.
These are the planned hotels. A hotel may be replaced by an alternative of a similar class, such as Villa C Boutique Hotel, Axis Ofir or Porto Palácio.
Exact times and hotels will be confirmed closer to the event.
Arrive at your own pace, check in and meet the Senate family at the welcome dinner in Porto.

Arrival airport: Porto (OPO), Francisco Sá Carneiro. Porto Airport has direct flights from many European cities. Our first hotel, HF Ipanema Park (Rua de Serralves 124, Porto), is about 13 km from the airport, in a quiet residential area near the Serralves Museum and Park, between the city centre and the ocean.
The easiest option with luggage – the hotel is not directly on the metro line.
Flights: it is best to book your flights to and from Porto Airport (OPO).
Our journey ends in Viana do Castelo, about 60 km north of Porto Airport. The easiest way to reach the airport is by direct bus – we suggest you check two options:
Along the way we pass charming Portuguese towns, picturesque fishing villages, sandy beaches and breathtaking ocean views, all the way to beautiful Viana do Castelo. No one can guarantee sunshine every day, but this season is very well suited to a memorable Coastal Camino.
Recommendation: dress in layers and bring a lightweight windproof and waterproof jacket. Weather on the coast can change quickly, sometimes within an hour.
A coach travels with the group every walking day. It carries the luggage between hotels, meets walkers at support points and lunch breaks, and picks up anyone who wants to shorten the day.
Porto is Portugal's second city – a UNESCO-listed old town of tiled façades and steep streets above the Douro river, home of port wine. North of it, the coast is a chain of fishing towns, beaches and dunes, with fresh seafood and vinho verde at every stop.
